life @ SBSCET ferozepur
hi friends, first i will take few moments introducing myslf, i am vishal mohal , a final year student of mechanical engineering in shaheed bhagat singh college of engginering and technology.
being a delhite , it was not easy for me to adjust to the hardship a remote border town of punjab.
through this and several following posts i will tell u something about me and my life experiencs in this college and place.
sbs, a we call our college is situated aroud 4 km from main city of ferozepur. the college is situated ina pleasent ambience and is spread in more than 103 acres.
i still remember the day , 10 july when i visited this place for the first time, the first sight of college was a surprise , since i never expected such a building in middle of nowhere.....
anyway i registered and offficially become the part of the undergraduate community of india.....
i was told to resume classes from 11 august and so i did, me tagged along with my both parents{ believe me it is the easiest way to be tagged mama's boy in college ;-) } set foot on the premises of college.
before continuing the story further i would like to describe the campus a bit.
there are 4 administrative buildings, rather we call them blocks. science cum admin block, mechanical block and chemical block. along with it central workshop.
residential for students include three boys hostel and a girls hostel .( boys and girls hostel are seprated by a massive field and as i will describe later how binoculars were used for the effect.
;-)}
a teachers colony is also there but since who watches the { actually some do!!! bloody muggers}
so no point discussing it over here.
well continuing with the main story, i went to satluj bhawan , which was the first year hostel.
i met various facchaas as the first year juniors are commonly called.
as we have to move in groups i quickly made a few acquaintences..
ah! i forgot to tell you i was secured admission in first year in electrical engineering. the significanc will be clear in future , so continuing with story....
my room mate were krishan kumar bathinda and ankur bahri from hanumangarh both form electronics. as all branches have common syllabus in first yesar we all were happy that we have common syllabus. my room has perfect view of geri root as we fondly call our main road of college . { geri means to walk and as our senior couples moved we sometimes called it mall road }
but we didnt dared to move on it as we feared ragging et al.....
as it is said out of free fall and into the frying pan.....
one day we were caught , i mean our menial group of 5 people by a group of seniors......
they took our intro but also told me the most important lesson of my life, something which is
important as an indivisual , and as a human being. that was to be humour faced at every situation and to treat each indivisual with diggnity and respect.
i tell u from my own pesonal experience, i was the most ragge person of my batch but least harshly done, and more important it gave me numorous contacts in the senior community.
well after some time the ragging abated and once after freshers , we were all free to tango..!!!!!
well this is the first part of story
pls stay hooked for the later stages.
next part i will tell my first semeste in college.....
regards vishal mohal
